CELLAR

We are in love with Irpinia.
And its great wines.

Wine doesn’t just come from grapes. It comes from passion.

Respect for nature while working in the vineyard

The terrain of Irpinia is one of the most suitable in the world: we believe that leaving it to the nature is the best choice for obtaining wines that are absolutely faithful to the vine and to territory of origin.

Maximum attention in the winemaking phase

In this phase, both technological and procedural innovations are fundamental respect the genuine personality of the grape: each grape is crushed with pressing soft, and the fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature.

Love of time in maturation and aging

The cellars dug under the land of Irpinia, the oak barrels, the very air of mountains, with the natural action of the microclimate: during refinement in the cellar, these factors blend together, creating the personality and characteristics of our wines.

A history refined over the centuries

Sicily, Calabria, France and now Irpinia: here is the journey of the Marquises of Scuderi.

The story begins in the 14th century, when Giacomo was awarded a fiefdom of King Peter II of Aragon and Sicily. The noble title Marchesi di Scuderi comes granted in 1734 to the Cannatà family, who shortly afterwards took up residence in Calabria, a San Giorgio Morgeto, where Cannatà is still the most common surname today. Then yes they stop in Atina, which until 1927 was part of the province of Caserta and therefore of Campania. From here to the beginning of the 20th century they moved to France, acquiring vineyards in the area of Burgundy and Bordeaux. But the desire for home is too strong. So now the Cannatà family returns to Campania, acquires a historic winery in Irpinia and here creates an international wine style by combining the Irpinia terroir with wine culture learned in the most suitable French rows. And this is today’s story.

The Marchesi di Scuderi imprint

There is a sensorial signature common to the different wines. And it is made up of pleasantness, softness, elegance. It is the personal imprint desired by Eugenio Cannatà, which he has wanted to give the family title of the Marquises of Scuderi to the cellar and to every bottle it produces.
